My Journey Into Kolby Kero Woodworking

During the 2020 pandemic, I picked up a creative quirk within me that showed me a whole new part of life that I never knew I enjoyed. My recently passed grandfather showed me how to rebuild an engine as he used to repair drag-racing cars and build them himself. Then he taught me how to wire as I put a new light bar and speaker system in my car. He passed in May of 2023 which forced me to learn many things myself that nobody that surrounds me has any knowledge around. In April of 2023, I dove for a backhand ground ball at First base at practice and tore my thumb UCL and had to get surgery, surrendering my college baseball season. Soon after I had the idea to join the viral sensation of ice baths with a Rubbermaid tank from the local Tractor Supply in the winter weather. Not long after starting, I decided to gift my dad a tub for his birthday so he could join in on the trend. As summer rolled around, the tub warmed up, leading to us looking online and striking out due to ridiculous pricing. I decided to put my engine building, wiring, and little painting experience together to learn how to build one on my own. I was still in a hand cast at this time but I built and plumbed my ice immersion tank using primarily only my off-hand and it turned out amazing. This started a bug within me that sprung me towards woodworking. Using YouTube, Facebook, and a couple of saws from the mid-1900s out of my grandpa's old shop, I learned how to put some cool pieces together using various lumbers. Now i have sprung towards custom woodworking and luxury cold plunge builds for people in the Northwest.
